Andrew has a BSc (Hons) and MSc in podiatry as well as a PGCert in Health Education, and is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy. His career to date has covered expert clinical practice, leadership, teaching and research. He works for Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust, in the North West of England, in foot ulcer management and prevention in both clinical practice and research. Andrew has previously worked as a University lecturer and lecturer practitioner. His scholarly output has involved developing a teaching tool having won a prize grant from the Urgo Foundation, he is also involved in writing clinical practice guidelines, writing articles for peer reviewed journals, presenting at national and international conferences, attending international expert panel seminars, and works as a key opinion leader with industry.

Ms. Hadar Shaulian has graduated her Bachelor's degree with academic honors at the mechanical engineering faculty at the Arial University, Israel. Currently, she is pursuing her PhD degree in the direct track, under the supervision of Pro. Alon Wolf, and Pro. Amit Gefen, at the Biorobotics and Biomechanics Laboratory (BMRL). The BRML provides the framework for fundamental theories in kinematics and mechanism design with applications in biomechanics and medical robotics. Ms. Shaulian research topic is dedicated to developing an optimal patient specific solution for foot ulcer prevention and treating using finite-element simulation tools

Stephen has enjoyed an international career spanning some 40 years in senior executive and business development roles, and now represents TherMidas Oy in the UK and Ireland.

 

His interest in healthcare comes from a long background in semiconductors and in electronic manufacturing, where he manufactured electronic and photonic products for multiple medical applications.

 

Stephen has a BSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and an MBA, both from The University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. He has also enjoyed Executive Education at Harvard Business School.

 

Dr. Jaap van Netten is a human movement scientist from the Netherlands, specialized in clinical research on foot disease. His research focus is on the interplay between biomechanics and behaviour in the prevention of foot ulcers and amputation. This includes real-life and laboratory gait and activity analyses, communication strategies, footwear optimization and e-health solutions for disease detection and behaviour changes.

Van Netten has research and clinical experience from academic and non-academic research settings in the Netherlands and Australia. He works as senior researcher at Amsterdam UMC, the Netherlands, and has a position as adjunct associate professor at QUT, Brisbane, Australia. He also serves as scientific secretary of the International Working Group on the Diabetic Foot (IWGDF) editorial board and prevention working group, responsible for the international guidelines on diabetic foot disease.

Active in 3D printing research since 2004, Associate Professor Wai Yee Yeong at the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, has created multiple frontiers in 3D printing, taking the leads in 3D Bioprinting, electronics printing and metal printing research. She has been awarded with research grant in the order of >$10 million. Her portfolio includes serving as Programme Director (Aerospace and Defence) at Singapore Centre for 3D Printing (SC3DP), Program Director (3D Printing) at NTU-HP Digital Manufacturing Lab and Co-director of NTU Institute for Health Technologies.

Her research and innovation leadership are well-recognized internationally, serving as Technical Chair for international conferences and Associate Editor for top tier journal – Virtual and Physical Prototyping. She is the winner for the 2019 Inaugural TCT-Women in 3D Printing Innovator Award for her overall achievement in 3D printing. She has also been named as a finalist for Lush Prize (Science Category) in 2018 for her work in bioprinting of tissue models to replace animal testing. In 2019, she was invited to be on the review panel for the prestigious European Research Council (ERC) advanced grant.

Associate Professor Daphne Weihs is a Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology since 2006. She obtained her BSc, MSc, and PhD (2004) at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering, Technion. She did her post-graduate research at the Department of Pathology and Lab Medicine, Medical School, University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA, 2004-2006).

Prof. Weihs is the President of the Israel Society of Medical and Biological Engineering (ISMBE) and has served as the head of the ISMBE Scientific Committee (2015-2019). Prof. Weihs is an Associate Editor on the editorial board of Plos One, and has served on boards other journals, such as Convergent Science Physical Oncology. She has guest edited special issues in the Journal of Biomechanics and in Convergent Science Physical Oncology. She has had Visiting Professorship at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven) in Belgium. Her research is funded by highly competitive governmental scientific funding agencies such as the Israel Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), the Israel Ministry of Health (MOH), and the Israel Ministry of Economics. Among her honors and awards are the Henri Gutwirth Research Grant Award, a paper featured in ‘Highlights of 2013 collection’ of New Journal of Physics, and she was chosen as one of the 50 Most Influential Women in Israel, Globes 25th Annual Listing in the supplement Lady Globes of September 2015.

Her research is focused is on mechanobiology in the contexts of cancer development and progression and wound prevention and healing.

Hannes Weiland is the CEO of Pedilay Care GmbH, a Munich, Germany based medical startup. Prior to launching Pedilay, Hannes held various positions in startups, consulting and government. Despite his business focus, he has a keen eye for material and process innovation to build and protect company value. A dual national of Canada and Germany, Hannes passionately supports initiatives that strengthen transatlantic relations among youth.

Matthew Young MB BS MRCP(UK) MD FRCP(EDIN) FCPodMed

Matthew Young is the Editor in Chief of the Diabetic Foot Journal and foot section of Diabetes Digest He qualified from Newcastle University Medical School in 1985 and trained in a variety of centres including the Sheffield and Manchester diabetic foot clinics. Matthew has been a Consultant Diabetologist at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh since 1995 where he now leads the multidisciplinary team of the largest diabetic foot clinic in Scotland. His research interests include foot screening and skeletal change in the diabetic foot, particularly Charcot joints and cardiovascular disease in foot ulcer patients. He serves on the Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN) group, for diabetic foot guidelines, and the Foot Advisory Group of the Scottish Diabetes Group.  He has published extensively on diabetes and its complications, particularly the diabetic foot.  He was recently awarded an honorary fellowship of the College of Podiatric Medicine in recognition of his work in promoting podiatry and multi-disciplinary working.
